EUGENE, OR (August 26, 2022) — Community members are asking questions about MovingAhead: What is it? Who is behind it? What will it do? Who will pay for it?

In response, Better Eugene-Springfield Transportation (BEST) has assembled a frequently asked questions (FAQ) sheet presenting the facts and dispelling misconceptions.

In a nutshell, MovingAhead is an effort to explore if and how to transform some of Eugene’s busiest streets to provide safe access for everyone, whether they are walking, biking, using mobility devices, riding the bus, or driving. We need to first make sure everyone can get where they are going safely.

Alexis Biddle, BEST president, says, “MovingAhead is a project that puts the lives of current and future community members first, no matter which mode of transportation they may choose. It plans for the travel needs of an increasing population while strengthening the connectivity of local transportation options.”

To garner answers to some frequently asked questions, BEST did its own research and then double checked with local experts. The information published in the FAQ sheet reflects this research, complete with sources and links to more information.

BEST is an independently-funded 501(3)(c) educational nonprofit organization. Its mission is to build a successful community by bringing people together to promote transportation options, safe streets, and walkable neighborhoods.
