BEST supports East 30th Avenue Active Transportation Plan
BEST supports a RAISE grant to implement Lane County’s East 30th Avenue Active Transportation Plan.
The East 30th Avenue corridor between Agate Street and McVay Highway currently supports greater speeds and volumes of vehicle traffic. But the corridor lacks infrastructure for people to walk and bike safely and comfortably. After 18 months of community involvement and technical analysis, Lane County drafted a recommended design concept for making East 30th Avenue safer for people driving, walking, biking, and taking transit. In December of 2022, Lane County staff presented the draft recommendation to the Lane County Board of County Commissioners, who unanimously approved the East 30th Avenue design concept. The next step is to refine the design to address details such as: warning systems alerting drivers to yield to people walking and biking at the Spring Boulevard and Goneya Road on-ramps and off-ramps; pedestrian safety next to faster-moving bicycles; and wildlife crossings—or gaps in the concrete barriers.
Now BEST is supporting a RAISE grant to implement the design concept.
